How Does Vacuum Conveying Work?

Vacuum conveying is basically the process of moving liquid and bulk dry items, like powders, from point A to point B over a conveyor belt or other material with suction. The liquid or powder is moved in a network of revolving tubing from the source or pick up area to all the other processing sections  throughout the manufacturing plant. This means that any type of liquid can be passed through the system. This is why liquids such as diesel fuel or paint can be moved through the plant with ease. A smooth conveying system is made of an overhead flat plate on which the liquid is passed. Any type of liquid or gaseous phase can be carried through this type of conveying system. The two types of vacuum conveying systems are wet and dry. Dry conveying involves no liquid or gaseous phase being carried through the system at all; it is always dry.

How does the dilute phase conveying system work? A dilute phase conveying system is usually used to move solids or dry materials through a plant by a fluid containing pump action. As the fluid passes over the surface of the material, it expands to fill the entire volume of the space available for the movement of the fluid, or the flow of the liquid. In a dry form of vacuum conveying, the material will be moved from the source or pick up area to the desired process; in a wet form, the material will be moved from the source or pick up area to a receiving area or drain.
